Michael I. Sherman is an attorney with 34 years of legal experience and a longstanding connection to probate law. For approximately 30 years, he handled guardianship and conservatorship matters in Michigan probate courts, giving him extensive experience with the legal and practical issues involving incapacity, decision-making, and the protection of vulnerable individuals.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Sherman has appeared in hundreds of guardianship and conservatorship hearings in the Oakland, Wayne, and Macomb County probate courts. That firsthand courtroom experience has given him a practical understanding of how probate matters unfold and the complications that can arise when important legal and personal decisions have not been addressed in advance.

Mr. Sherman’s courtroom experience began while he was in law school, when he served as Chief Court Clerk to the Honorable Steven N. Andrews of Michigan’s Sixth Judicial Circuit Court. His responsibilities included managing the administrative side of the judge’s docket, preparing jury instructions, and reviewing and entering court orders. He also served as a Law Clerk in the Office of Legal Affairs at William Beaumont Hospital (now Corewell Health).

Mr. Sherman earned his bachelor’s degree with High Distinction and High Honors from the University of Michigan and his Juris Doctor from Wayne State University Law School. As a law student, he worked for Judge Andrews during the day and attended law school classes in Detroit at night.

His approach to estate planning is practical, personal, and straightforward. He works closely with clients to understand their needs, explain their options in clear language, and create thoughtful estate plans that reflect their wishes and provide clarity for the people they care about.
